Child Alert is a briefing series that presents the core challenges for children in a given crisis
location at a given time. Haiti is the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere and has the
highest death rate of under-5-year-olds. A recent election may provide the stability necessary
to improve the situation for children in Haiti, but the world must continue and increase efforts
to give these children hope for their futures.
